Veterinary Pathologist

Dr. Rebecca Rose has been a board certified veterinary pathologist since 1991.

Dr. Rose graduated from veterinary school (Kansas State University, ’81) and concurrently earned a master’s degree in veterinary pathology. She earned her PhD (1988) at Iowa State University while working at the National Animal Disease Center in Ames, Iowa.

After Iowa, Dr. Rose was employed as a comparative pathologist at M.I.T. at the Division of Comparative Medicine. She provided laboratory animal pathology services to the MIT and Boston biomedical research institutions.

In the early 1990’s, Dr. Rose was an assistant professor of veterinary pathology at the University of Minnesota, and while there engaged with experimental medical device assessment in affiliation with the medical school.

She joined Medtronic in 1997 as a preclinical device pathologist.

Examples of the quality of her work include:

  • identification of most promising prototypes
  • an accelerated notified body acceptance based on thoroughness of her report
  • a beneficial change in a manufacturing process secondary to her observations.
